TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (WATER SURVIVAL)

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience inspecting, maintaining, and the upkeep of installed diving system and diving equipment; Experience instructing underwater egress, underwater breathing, survival swimming; Experience operating training devices or simulators. Experience assisting with the incorporation of the latest developments and integration of subjects into instruction. Experience with diving physics, diving medicine, diving techniques, and proper use of diving equipment in accordance with U.S. Navy Diving Manual (NAVSEA SS521-AG-PRO-010). The incumbent shall perform duties underwater with SCUBA, the MK-20 or similar dive gear (approximately 30-40 pounds). The incumbent must be physically capable of rescuing (handling/controlling) students underwater inside or outside the training devices to prevent drowning or injury. The incumbent shall be evaluated annually, and shall be capable of performing US Navy Lifeguard performance skills listed below:
a. Swim 500-yards in at least 11:
30 (ages 18-29), 12:
00 (ages 30-39), 12:
30 (ages 40-49), 13:
00 (ages 50+) or less using any stroke(s) (flip turns and push offs permitted). b. Tread water (with head out of the water and spine erect) while holding a 10 pound weight at the surface with both hands for one minute. c. Perform long shallow dive, then surface dive to pool bottom (10-12 feet), retrieve 10 pound weight and swim the brick to the surface, and carry it to the end or side of the pool. d. Perform long shallow dive, sprint a length (approximately 32 yards), pick up 10 pound weight from pool deck edge and swim side stroke back, carrying 10 pound weight on hip/side all within 1 and one half minutes or less. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
